Extreme heat threatens global food systems, UN agencies warn

A joint report by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) warns that extreme heat is severely threatening global agrifood systems. The increasing frequency, intensity, and duration of heatwaves are causing substantial damage across crops, livestock, fisheries, and forestry sectors, jeopardizing the livelihoods and health of over a billion people worldwide.
