The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation is finalizing the launch of an Index of Services Production (ISP) to accurately measure short-term trends in India's services sector, which accounts for over half of the GDP. The ISP, leveraging Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN) data and administrative records, addresses a long-standing gap in economic measurement, moving beyond sentiment-based surveys like the Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI).
