As temporary tariffs expire, U.S. imposes 10% ‘forced labour’ tariffs on India
What's happening now
The United States has imposed a permanent 10% tariff on imports from India and 16 other countries following an investigation into forced labour under Section 301 of the Trade Act, 1974. India managed to secure a 10% rate instead of the proposed 12.5% by recently notifying a ban on the import of goods produced using forced labour.
