OBC creamy layer judgment: Centre seeks exemption for 2025 and 2026 civil service examination recruitments
What's happening now
The Union government has petitioned the Supreme Court of India to not apply its March 11 judgment on determining the creamy layer for Other Backward Classes (OBCs) retrospectively. The court had ruled that excluding children of PSU or private sector employees from reservation based solely on income, without considering the equivalence of their posts to government groups (A, B, C, D), is discriminatory.
