China to proceed with Brahmaputra mega dam despite new concerns
What's happening now
China is proceeding with its plan to construct a massive hydropower project on the lower reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo (Brahmaputra) River in Tibet, near the Indian border. Despite recent glacial collapses and environmental concerns, the project, designated as a priority in China's 15th Five-Year Plan, is moving forward.
