Updated weekly — Test 1 is free; Tests 2 onwards need a free account.
Every question carries an AI hint while you practise and a full AI explanation after you submit, so each test leaves you understanding more — not just marked right or wrong.
AI hint on every question
Stuck? A directional AI hint nudges your thinking during practice without revealing the answer.
Full AI explanation after submit
After you submit, every question opens into a full AI explanation — the concept, the answer and why the other options are wrong.
Root-word method for English
Tests are built around shared word roots, so mastering one root set helps you decode many unseen words on exam day.
These English tests are deliberately built around word roots. When you practise a set of words that share a root — for example, words from the Latin root "spec-/spect-" meaning "to look" (inspect, spectator, perspective, conspicuous) — you learn the root once and can then decode many unseen words that use it. Questions are ordered to reinforce roots you have just seen, so synonyms, antonyms and one-word substitution in SSC CGL English become easier to reason through instead of memorising word by word. The same teaching approach is planned for the Aptitude and General Studies sections coming soon.
The official SSC CGL Tier-1 paper follows the latest pattern: 100 questions for 200 marks in 60 minutes, split into four sections of 25 questions each, with English Comprehension worth 25 questions and 50 marks and marking of +2 for a correct answer and −0.5 for a wrong one. These practice tests cover that English Comprehension section. Note on timing: each practice test gives you 25 minutes as a comfortable learning pace, whereas in the live exam each of the four sections is locked to roughly 15 minutes — so treat the longer practice clock as room to learn, not the real exam limit.
English topics covered
Each question in this series was drafted by an AI question-generation pipeline and then reviewed by a human before publication. The intent is to mirror the structure, difficulty and topic spread of the SSC CGL Tier-1 English section — not to reproduce any specific past-year question.
Explanations are AI-generated and shown after you submit a test. We label questions as AI-assisted so you can calibrate how much weight to put on each explanation. If you spot an error, tell us — we read every report.
